In Tribute to Boston Police Officers Memorial

About

Boston Police Headquarters – Boston, MA

2005

The Memorial plaza is located on the grounds of the Boston Police Headquarters and was designed in collaboration with landscape architect Mark Flannery. A timeline made of bronze and granite with a stainless steel police badge shows a pictorial chronicle of the history of America’s first and oldest police department. This relief sculpture, combined with text, earmarks historic events spanning from the Colonial era to the present. Centered within the Memorial site is an allegorical stainless steel and granite sculpture with a blue LED eternal flame that is lit 24/7. The mission of the Boston Police is cast in bronze and set on a stone flanked by two flagpoles. Events and memorials are held at the site.
